This position ensures guest dining experiences are supreme.  Follow all appropriate policies and procedure while constantly striving to improve all standards of operation. Assist as needed with preparation and/or presentation of food items. Assists as needed in utility work.  Responsible for Resident satisfaction!  Residents should never leave the Healthcare, Assisted Living, Bistro or Main Dining Room unhappy.  Part of the  job is to recognize that there is a problem before it’s too late.  If a problem arises that you, as a manager, cannot resolve, contact the Dining Room Manager immediately.  You are responsible for the people in the Bistro, Main Dining Room, Catering, Assisted Living and Healthcare Dining from the time that they enter until they leave.  This includes the quality of what you serve - make sure you serve quality food and beverages in a quality atmosphere of caring employees.  The Dining Services department is based on that premise.

The ideal candidate for this position has knowledge of dining room procedures (presentation, service, busing, customer relations, and sanitation) and basic food preparation. He or she maintains excellent sanitary practices, has outstanding interpersonal skills, and has a genuine interest in serving the elderly and disabled.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for taking customer orders, making certain to account for residents, staff and guests properly to include cash transactions. Proper cash handling and cash drawer reconciliation is essential. Monitor all money handling, ensuring that proper cash, credit card and POS procedures are followed.
  • Motivates others to do their best and says and does things to let staff know they are valued and their work is important. Pitches in to assist staff with duties as needed. Makes self available to staff and keeps staff informed. Provides staff with frequent performance feedback, both positive and constructive. Establishes and communicates clear expectations and deadlines.
  • Manages employees with direction to ensure quality and proper time management. Maintain high standards of morale and personal appearance of all staff. Responsible for presentation of staff and ambiance. Check all servers' side work to ensure proper completion of work. To ensure that stations have their correct mise-en-place. Employee's time at work must be monitored and limited, and poor attendance and performance documented.
  • Oversee proper set up of dining and service areas. Ensure table appointments, including flower arrangements, are impeccable and that tables are set correctly.
  • Deal with guest complaints and comments. Follow-up as needed.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions, injuries, and accidents to the supervisor
  • Service of food and drink to residents in proper “fine dining” fashion.
  • Provide Server duties for catering functions and in the Main Dining Room, and Bistro as needed.
  • Responsible for cleanliness, sanitation and restocking of all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots/pans, trays, and other utensils used in the food service program.
  • Assist in all aspects of service to the residents, receiving direction from the Dining Room Supervisor and Dining Room Manager
  • Provide Server duties for Healthcare and Assisted Living as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of dining room procedures, presentation, service, busing, customer relations and sanitation. Knowledge of basic food production. Experience in working with older adults. Knowledge of Helath Department Regulations as they pertain to cleaning, food storage, preparation and service.
  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, and a get-it-done work ethic a must
  • Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English
  • Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
  • Able to work a variable and flexible schedule
  • Genuine desire to work with the elderly
  • An up-beat and engaging personality
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, kneel, and stand as needed
