JOB DESCRIPTION

Our community cares for seniors through a “household model,” which is characterized by small groups of approximately 14-22 residents served by a self-directed team with versatile roles. Team members get to know the residents personally, creating an atmosphere of “home,” which provides residents with an enhanced sense of health and well-being.

With versatile roles, team members usually work a portion of their time in their primary functional role and their remaining time in versatile roles—recreation, dining, housekeeping, social services—in order to meet the residents’ needs when they occur. Each household develops a strong sense of community that provides everyone—residents, family and household team members—with opportunities for personal growth.

Responsibilities include performing the combined duties of dining services and housekeeping. This individual performs housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of household surroundings which may include resident/guest rooms and common areas.

Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.

Certification/Licensure: ServSafe certification is preferred.

Experience: Prior food service, hospitality, and/or housekeeping experience is preferred.

Hours: Every other weekend is a requirement for this position.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all universal precautions
  • Cleans resident rooms as assigned, which includes dusting, polishing furniture, sanitizing bathrooms, sweeping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning mirrors, changing linens, making beds, emptying trash, and general straightening and organizing
  • Follows instructions on use of cleaning chemicals, including dilution and application. Know where Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are located and to refer to the MSDS as necessary or when instructed for safety precautions or personal protective equipment needed.
  • Straightens, picks up, and organizes all common areas, therapy rooms, etc., and cleans offices as assigned
  • Handles trash, soiled linen, and clean linen.
  • Performs cleaning procedures to ensure room is prepared for new occupancy when resident is transferred or discharged
  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing procedures following all infection control policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Fluent English speaking and writing skills
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
  • Genuine desire to work with the elderly
